  Reaches parts few other tours reach! Explore the unspoilt and picturesque, yet rarely visited, Emerald Triangle region, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia meet.

  Journey from Eastern Thailand into Southern Laos to discover the Boloven Plateau, Sepian National Bio-diversity Area and World Heritage Wat Phu, before continuing south to the stunning ‘Four Thousand Islands’, where the Mekong cascades into Cambodia over a series of spectacular falls, and on down-river through the jungles of Northern Cambodia to our final destination of Phnom Penh.

Payment should be finished four weeks before the arrival of the group.

Cancellation: You may cancel your confirmed booking, but this must be in written letter (email or fax). But if cancellation occurs after your confirmation to book the tour, or if you fail to pay the full cost of the tour within the specified time, you will be liable to pay cancellation charges.

Cancellation charges are as follows:

  • No less than 30 days before arrival: $150 per person
  • 30 to 15 days before arrival: $300 per person
  • 14 to 7 days before arrival: 60% of the full payment per person
  • 6 to 0 days before arrival: 100% of the full payment per person

 Traveler substitutions are considered reservation cancellations and are subject to the above cancellation fees. After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.

Refunding: If you have paid for the tour but then have to cancel it more than 15 days before the start of your tour, we will refund all the payment except the deposit ($300 per person). If cancellation has to be made within 15 days, we will charge some cancellation penalty as well as the deposit, according to how much we have to pay to our suppliers. We will try our best to decrease your loss because we know it's not your purpose to cancel it.

Day 1: Arrival Bangkok D
Morning arrival in Bangkok - meet your tour leader and transfer to a downtown hotel in the City’s lively Banglamphu district. Afternoon to relax, recover from your jet-lag by the pool or explore the area and the local markets.

Day 2: Bangkok B/L
City tour with a difference! Central Bangkok by public transport; riverboat, skytrain, tuk-tuk and canal boat including stop-offs to take in the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Keow – the Temple of the Emerald Buddha - and the fascinating Jim Thompson Museum. (Note alternatives can be arranged for those who have already visited Bangkok). In the evening we’ll board the night sleeper train for Surin in Eastern Thailand.

Day 3: Bangkok - Surin B/L
Early morning arrival in the small provincial town of Surin where our exploration of the Emerald Triangle begins with a visit to some of the spectacular Angkor period ruins to be found in the area; the dramatic 12th century Khmer ruins of Phnom Rung - situated on the summit of an extinct volcano, the well preserved and picturesque Muang Tham and the hidden border temple of Ta Muan.

Day 4: Surin - Khong Jiam B/L
Time to head eastwards to our day's destination - the small, scenic town of Khong Jiam on the banks of the Mekong, overlooking Laos. In the afternoon we’ll travel to the nearby Pha Taem National Park for a hike to visit the prehistoric cliff paintings and unusual rock formations before returning to Khong Jiam by boat down the Mekong River.

Day 5: Khong Jiam - Pakse B/L
Leisurely morning in this riverside town before crossing into Laos for our overnight stop at Pakse. Afternoon to check out the market and bustling waterfront area of this old port.

Day 6: Pakse B/L
Day tour of some of the sites of the Boloven Plateau, home to numerous ethnic minorities and the centre of Lao’s coffee growing industry including visits to one of the area’s coffee plantations and a chance to bathe in the Tad Yeuang Falls.

Day 7: Pakse - Champassak B/L
Boat trip down the Mekong River south to the small town of Champassak. Afternoon trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wat Phu – a pre-Angkor, Khmer temple dramatically situated on a mountain side overlooking the valley of the Mekong.

Day 8: Champassak - Kietngong Village B/L
Morning transfer to Kietngong Village for an elephant trek to some mysterious hilltop ruins and on to the delightful Kingfisher Eco Lodge on the edge of the Sepian national Biodiversity Area for our night’s accommodation. Afternoon hike to discover the area, bird watching in the nearby wetlands or simply resting up on the balcony admiring the superb view.

Day 9: Kietngong Village - 4 Thousand Islands B/L
Continue south to the ‘4 thousand islands’ - a stretch of the Mekong River of truly outstanding natural beauty straddling the Lao/Cambodian border.

Day 10: 4 Thousand Islands B/L
Explore some of the islands by boat, kayak and on foot. Visit S E Asia’s largest waterfalls – the stunning Khone Phapaeng Falls – and with luck catch a glimpse of some of the rare freshwater dolphins which still inhabit this stretch of the river.

Day 11: 4 Thousand Islands - Stung Treng - Kratie B/L
Continuing down the Mekong, we'll follow the picturesque jungle-lined river into Cambodia and the remote town of Stung Treng. From here we’ll continue overland, south to the old French port of Kratie for our night’s accommodation. Afternoon to wander the bustling river front area.

Day 12: Kratie - Phnom Penh B/L
The final leg of our journey will take us overland via Kompong Cham and a visit to the Angkor era temple of Wat Nokor to Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh.
